Important Tips for Maintaining Immunity During the Rainy Season

Professor Ali Khomsan, a food and nutrition expert from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), emphasizes the significance of maintaining body immunity during the rainy season, one of which is to regularly consume vitamin C.

This intake can enhance the immune system and help people avoid various diseases that often appear during weather changes.

“Don’t forget to always eat vegetables and fruits, especially those rich in vitamin C,” Ali said on Wednesday (September 11, 2024).

According to him, unpredictable weather changes, especially during the rainy season with high rainfall, make the body more vulnerable to health issues. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen the immune system through the right nutritional intake.

Professor Ali explained that foods containing vitamin C play a crucial role in boosting immunity. This is highly needed to combat diseases, especially in the rainy season, when the body is more susceptible to various health disturbances. With good immunity, daily productivity can also be maintained.

“Vitamin C can be found in many fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, broccoli, strawberries, spinach, kiwi, and melons,” said Ali.

He added that consuming a variety of foods is also important for supporting overall body health, including maintaining nutritional balance by consuming carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in appropriate portions.

In addition to vitamin C, Ali also reminded the importance of applying a healthy eating pattern according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, which includes consuming carbohydrates, side dishes, vegetables, and fruits in balanced proportions every day. With a healthy, nutrient-rich diet, the body will be better prepared to face weather changes.
